Designed for today’s Healthcare and Public Safety Professionals, Red Cross or American Heart BLS delivers the training and certification you need to help drive better patient outcomes. This new and innovative program incorporates important learning and development concepts such as critical thinking, problem solving, and reflection and debriefing. BLS will equip you and your crews with the ability to immediately recognize life-threatening emergencies and respond – from administering CPR, using an AED, relieving an obstructed airway and more. Consistent with the 2015 AHA Guidelines for CPR/ECC, BLS is the foundational CPR/AED program typically required for healthcare providers and public safety professionals including Physicians, Nurses, Dental and Pharmacy Professionals, Physical Therapists, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Police Officers, Firefighters, and Athletic and Fitness Trainers. BLS is an instructor-led  format. Upon successful completion of the course, learners will receive a 2-year “Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers” digital certificate with anytime, anywhere access to certificate and training history.

  • Conducting an expended scene size-up
  • Performing a primary assessment
  • Providing CPR ( One-and Two-Rescuer )
  • Ventilation including using a Bag-Value-Mask
  • Using an AED
  • Relieving a foreign body airway obstruction

HeartCode BLS

eSimulation Courses

HeartCode BLS uses the latest eSimulation technology to enable students to assess and treat patients in virtual healthcare settings. Utilizing a variety of eLearning assets such as dramatizations, eSimulations, animations, self-directed learning, and interactive activities, this course teaches BLS knowledge and skills. This method of learning provides training consistency, adaptability to different learning styles, and flexibility for the student’s and employer’s time. Students can work at their own pace applying their knowledge to real-time decision making and skills development. Blended training also supports the need for hands-on learning of psychomotor skills. Debriefings and coaching are provided immediately after each simulation.

Once the cognitive portion of the course has been completed, students practice and test their skills with an AHA Instructor.

After successfully completing both the eLearning and hands-on session of the BLS Course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the importance of high-quality CPR and its impact on survival
  • Describe all of the steps of the Chain of Survival and apply the BLS concepts of the Chain of Survival
  • Recognize the signs of someone needing CPR
  • Perform high-quality CPR for adults, children and infants
  • Describe the importance of early use of an AED and demonstrate its use
  • Provide effective ventilations by using a barrier device
  • Describe the importance of team dynamics in multi-rescuer resuscitation and perform as an effective team member during multirescuer CPR
  • Describe the technique for relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants

Emergency Oxygen

Administering Emergency Oxygen

An advanced skills course for professional rescuers, including lifeguards, who want to improve their ability to provide care for victims of breathing emergencies. This course covers a variety of physical and mechanical tools for maintaining patient oxygen levels until more advanced medical personnel can take over.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to demonstrate:

  • The importance of administering emergency oxygen.
  • How & when to use various oxygen delivery devices. (assembling and disassembling)
  • How to use a resuscitation mask and BVM to ventilate a non-breathing victim.
  • How to prepare and administer emergency oxygen to both a breathing and non-breathing victim.
  • Safety considerations when using oxygen

This course is recommended for professional rescuers such as EMTs, first responders, lifeguards, Divemasters etc.

  • Course Lenght- 2 1/2 Hrs
  • Course Tuition- $99 Per person
  • ARC Certification: Administering Emergency Oxygen will be valid for 2 years.
  • DAN certification: Emergency Oxygen for Scuba Diving Injuries course counts toward the DAN Diving Emergency Specialist.
  • PADI Certification: Emergency Oxygen Provider course counts toward the Master Scuba Diver Certificate.
  • Prerequisite: Have a current CPR Card

A digital certificate is available upon successful completion of course from all agencies.
